The Information Commissioner’s Office has launched an investigation after hackers attempted to access customer information held by the capital’s bike hire scheme.
Details of the attacks, which occurred in December 2015, January 2016 and March 2016, are contained in a report to be presented to Transport for London’s Audit and Assurance committee next week.
According to the document, the three “attacks were similar in nature” and involved attempts “to access customer accounts via the [Santander Cycle Hire] Scheme’s website and mobile app.”
The ICO is currently investigating but has yet to decide whether any breach of data protection rules occurred.
