The Santander Cycles scheme is being expanded after seeing “unprecedented demand” last month as Londoners sought new ways to get to work and the shops.
Under the terms of the funding package agreed with the Government, free travel for over 60s is to be restricted to non-peak hours in order to free up space for those unable to work from home.
Fares are set to rise across all Transport for London services in return for the Government providing a £1.6bn emergency funding package.

According to the GLA’s most recent audit, BAME staff earn an average of 11.4 per cent less than their white counterparts. Although this figure fell from 16 per cent in 2017, Mayor Sadiq Khan has previously acknowledged that “there is more work to be done” to eliminate the gap.
