Newham has enjoyed great success in clamping down on landlords letting out substandard homes, leading to more than 1,1000 landlords being prosecuted, but its approval to run the scheme is due to expire and the council is understandably keen to put pressure on ministers to grant a renewal.

Samsung Pay joins Transport for London’s contactless payment revolution

The app, which can be downloaded from the Samsung Galaxy Apps store, allows customers to register their MasterCard and Visa credit and debit cards and pay for goods of services by tapping the phone on the contactless card reader.

Sadiq Khan sets up new River Thames policy advisory forum

The new Thames and London Waterways Forum will replace two separate bodies, River Concordat and London Waterways Commission, and include representatives from City Hall, TfL, PLA, the Canal and River Trust, the Environment Agency and London Councils.
