This week’s London Assembly meetings

June 21, 2010 by Martin Hoscik

AMs are meeting to examine the capital's affordable housing needs
Members of the London Assembly Planning and Housing Committee will tomorrow (Tuesday 22nd June) question Mayoral advisor Richard Blakeway as part of an investigation into the future of affordable homes in the capital and the Mayor’s policies to meet London’s needs.

Also appearing before AMs will be David Lunts, London Region Director, Homes and Communities Agency and Geoff Raw, Director Design Strategy and Planning, London Development Agency.

Committee Chair Nicky Gavron says: “As Chair of the HCA’s London Board, the Mayor is at the heart of affordable housing delivery in the capital and must use his powers and every tool at his disposal to provide more homes. We intend to explore the options and point him in the right direction.”

On Wednesday the Assembly Transport Committee will host an ‘open mic’ session allowing members of the public to voice concerns about the everyday challenges of using public transport.

The session is part of an ongoing examination of ways to improve the accessibility of public transport for people with reduced mobility.

Meeting details:

Tuesday 22 June 2010
Planning and Housing Committee – Affordable housing: 10am in Committee Room 5

Wednesday 23 June 2010
Transport Committee – Public transport accessibility: 10am in the Chamber
