Third Corporation of London City Academy Opens

September 3, 2009 - Staff

A new City Academy sponsored by KPMG and the City of London Corporation opened in Hackney yesterday taking the number of academies supported by the Corporation to three.

The Corporation already sponsors two successful academies in Southwark and Islington has has hopes that the latest, which will specialise in business and finance, will help provide opportunities for future generations of Londoners.

Principal, Mark Emmerson said the new academy “can make a huge difference to raising levels of achievement and lifting the horizons of young people.”

“We will promote the same professional standards for all our students. They will wear a distinctive uniform and be expected to conduct and apply themselves in ways that will be a credit to the Academy.”

Catherine McGuinness, Chair of Governors, and representative of the City of London Corporation, said the Corporation was “committed to making a huge difference through its sponsorship.”
