London Overground passengers can now access free WiFi at stations across the network.
London Overground Rail Operations Limited (LOROL), the company which operates the Overground on behalf of Transport for London, has teamed up with The Cloud to offer all passengers 60 minutes of free WiFi every 24 hours.
WiFi will be available in ticket halls, corridors and on platforms but not on trains
The service is operating at 50 stations and is expected to be rolled out to the remainder, including Haggerston, Shoreditch Shadwell, Clapham High Street and Wandsworth Road by June.
LOROL Managing Director Peter Austin said: ‘We are always looking for ways to make the London Overground even more convenient than it already is and believe the introduction of free WiFi can only improve and enhance our passenger journeys.”
Vince Russell, Managing Director at The Cloud, added: “Relying on 3G or 4G connection in locations where network traffic comes in peaks means that passengers are sometimes left frustrated at slow connection times during busier periods.
“We’re delighted to be working with London Overground to provide this service which will offer a fast, reliable internet connection to people as they wait for their trains.”
