Good news for users of Bank Tube station – work is underway “to complete a new additional entrance to Bank station, one of London’s most congested stations” as part of a “major upgrade” to the station.
Bad news for users of Bank Tube station – “without continued government funding for Transport for London’s (TfL’s) investment programme – to be announced by the Chancellor in next week’s Spending Round – the upgrade could be at risk.”
Yes, TfL have rather unsubtly resorted to lobbying HM Treasury by press release by suggesting the City suits loved by Governments and party treasurers of all hues will have to continue cramping into an already overcrowded ticket hall if the cash doesn’t keep pouring in.
Perhaps the delegation of City Hall officials, headed I understand by Sir Eddie Lister, who had meetings with the Treasury last week might not have come away with wholly good news?
