Stansted Express signs up to Visitor Oyster Card scheme

February 17, 2009 by Martin Hoscik

Stansted Express has become the latest outlet for Visitor Oyster Cards. Under a deal announced today, visitors to the capital will able to buy a card pre-loaded with £10 when they purchase their train tickets at Stansted, allowing direct access to the Tube and bus network as soon as they arrive in London.

Today’s announcement follows a deal in March 2008 with National Express and since 2006 visitors to the capital have been able to purchase Oyster cards from VisitBritain’s overseas offices and on-line shops.

Announcing the deal with Stansted Express, Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: “We want to continue to attract visitors to the capital, and are conscious of the welcome boost they provide to the economy during the current downturn. This deal will help us do that by making getting about that bit easier – cutting queuing time, and ensuring visitors can access the most cost-effective fares.”

Adrian Warren, Head of Marketing for Stansted Express said the company “are delighted that we can now offer an additional service to our customers to help make their stay in London easier and cheaper.”
