Science Museum invites young to share views on GM crops

April 2, 2009 by Staff

The Science Museum is inviting children, adults and families to get involved with the debate about genetically modified crops at a special ‘Talkaoke’ event which will take place during the Easter Holidays (14 – 16 April 2009).

The museum wants to engage younger audiences and encourage them to air their views on a topic which it says is normally restricted to adult discussion. The event takes its inspiration from ‘Future Foods’ a free temporary exhibition at the Science Museum investigating both sides of this hot topic.

‘Talkaoke’ is a live, people-led talk-show based around a multimedia “doughnut of chat”. Conversations are filmed and projected live onto screens in the Antenna Gallery where the event is taking place.

Facilitated by a several different scientists everybody will get the chance to voice their view on the issues surrounding genetic modification.
