Royal souvenir collectors looking to get around the capital for next month’s Royal Wedding will be able to buy a special commemorative Oyster card marking the occasion.
With just a month to go before the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton on April 29th, Transport for London has unveiled the design of the which features a portrait of the couple.
750,000 of the cards will be available which will be subject to the usual £5 deposit and £5 minimum top-up.
The cards will be available from all London Underground and London Overground stations and some National Rail ticket offices.
Unveiling the card design Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: “Just as Royal Wedding fever starts to take hold in the city, this fantastic commemorative Oyster card is a great chance for Londoners and visitors to have a slice of the action as a fabulous memento of the happy day.”
Transport bosses have also announced details of road closures and diversions which will be in place on the day.
Transport Commissioner Peter Hendy said the TfL was “working with our partners to ensure that everyone can get around safely and easily, and that people not involved with the celebrations can continue to move around the city with the minimum of disruption.”
Londoners and visitors to the capital are being urged to use public transport on the day and to take advantage of the fare savings available to Oyster users. Visitors outside the capital and UK can purchase a Visitor Oyster card from www.visitorshop.tfl.gov.uk.
A number of road closures will be in force from 06.00 on Friday 29th April and there will be some additional closures on Wednesday 27 April between 02.30 and 07.00. Cycle Hire docking stations on closed roads will also be suspended from 8pm on the night before the wedding.

In addition, the Metropolitan Police say a number of other roads may also be closed for parts of the day. These include:

On the day of the wedding there will be diversions and early terminations on bus routs 3, 6, 9, 9 Heritage, 11, 12, 13, 15, 15 Heritage, 23, 24, 29, 87, 88, 91, 148, 159, 176, 211, 388 and 453 and TfL warn further diversions “may be necessary should road closures be expanded throughout the day.”
Routes 11, 12, 24, 29, 53, 87, 88, 91, 148, 159, 211, 453, N2, N3, N5, N11, N18, N20, N26, N29, N41, N44, N52, N87, N91, N97, N109, N136, N155, N279, N343, N381 will also be affected by diversions and early terminations on Wednesday 27 April between 03.00 and 07.00.
