Europe’s largest anti-racist festival – Rise: London United Against Racism – will be held in Finsbury Park on Sunday 13th July 2008 it has been announced.
Organised by the Mayor of London backed by the Trade Union Congress, National Assembly Against Racism and community organisations the festival traditionally offers a huge variety of live music, with a number of music stages featuring both high profile and underground artists from the indie, rap and reggae industry, plus African, Asian, Cuban / Latin fusion and Middle Eastern music stages, as well as a comedy tent.
Mayor Ken Livingstone said: “Rise is a music festival with a powerful anti-racism message which celebrates the contribution of London’s different communities to the life of the capital and stands up against racism, intolerance and prejudice.”
Organisers say acts will be announced over the forthcoming months.
