Respect Publishes Candidate List

March 11, 2008 by Staff

The Respect Party has published a list of candidates who will be fighting for Assembly seats in this May’s elections under the banner “The Left List”.

Respect’s candidate for Mayor of London, Lindsey German, said the new name “highlights the fact that we have an enormously strong collective of candidates and that we are standing in all the elections for London on 1st May.”

Candidates include borough councillors and union organisers.

The use of a new name has apparently arisen from a dispute between different factions of Respect.

A statement from the party claimed it was currently unable to change its Nominating Officer owing to disputes with former officers.
