LibDem Mayoral candidate Brian Paddick has vowed to lobby Parliament to deny Londoners the right to elect any future Mayor for more than two terms should he be elected.
The former Met top cop made the comments on Thursday while responding to Ken Livingstone’s remarks on the BBC’s Today program promising to “limit my period as Mayor to two terms and lobby parliament to impose that limit on all future Mayors.”
The party has previously argued that term limits are required to protect democracy.
Current LibDem Assembly Members include two appointed members of the House of Lords and an unsuccessful constituency candidate in the 2000 elections.
