Norris Has Ken Banned From GLA Publicity

April 5, 2004 by Staff

All images and mention of Mayor Livingstone is to be removed from the London.gov.uk website and all London Government publicity material following a complaint by Tory Mayoral Candidate Steve Norris.

Mr Norris complained to Anthony Mayer, the chief executive of the Greater London Authority, who is responsible for the 10 June poll, that the Mayor was using publicy funded material to boost his election chances. Norris commented “The GLA is not an organ for the self promotion of Ken Livingstone. It’s a public body designed to provide services for Londoners.”

Mr Mayer has ruled that no images or mention of Mr Livingstone can appear on new materials between 5th May and polling day.
