Conservatives on the London Assembly have welcomed a decision by Transport Secretary Douglas Alexander to extended restrictions on night flights.
Mr Alexander has ruled that the ban on flights over London between 11:30pm and 6:00am will be extended until 2012. The current restrictions were due to expire on the 29th October 2006, and plans to increase night flights were opposed by Wandsworth and Richmond Councils.
Tony Arbour, London Assembly Conservative Planning Spokesman said his party welcomed the news “but we will still be campaigning to introduce a complete ban on the practise. Even at the current levels residents are regularly disturbed throughout the night.”
