New segregated cycle route proposed for Vauxhall

July 9, 2014 by Martin Hoscik

CS5 impression_large_cropped skyA public consultation is now underway on plans to build a new segregated cycle track running between Kennington Oval and Pimlico.

The continuous two-way track would mean cyclists no longer having to use the Vauxhall gyratory which is described by Transport for London as “one of the most significant barriers to cycling in the capital”.

In addition to making it easier and safer to cross Vauxhall bridge, the new segregated track would link to Quietway cycle routes which are designed to guide cyclists through a combination of traffic-free and low-traffic routes.

TfL is asking cyclists and other members of the public to take part in the online consultation which will run until 14 September.

Subject to responses, work to deliver the scheme could begin in Winter 2014.
