New Bus for London mock-up goes on display

A full-size mock-up of the new Bus for London has gone on display at the London Transport Museum in Covent Garden, giving Londoners the chance to see the future of the capital’s bus fleet.

Championed by Mayor of London Boris Johnson and overseen by Transport for London, the bus is expected to enter service in 2012.

The bus features a rear platform which TfL say will be left open during less busy periods, two interior staircases and is promised to be equipped with “the latest green technology”.

The mock-up is being displayed until June and visitors will be able to look at the exterior design of the bus and see part of the interior through the lower deck windows.

A prototype of the bus is expected to be manufactured later this year by Wrightbus who, along with Heatherwick Studio, have been working on the development of the new bus.
