Mayor Hails London Mela

More than 70,000 people gathered in London today to participate in the London Mela event which is held to celebrate Asian culture and featured music, dance, exhibitions and entertainment.

Hailing the day as a triumph London Mayor Ken Livingstone said it “offers the most wide ranging programme of any Asian festival anywhere outside the Indian sub-continent.”

Mr Livingstone added: “The London Mela is unique in the way it highlights the richness of Asian culture, and it has become one of the most exciting events in London.’
