Maloney Condemns Media’s ‘3 party bias’

June 4, 2004 by Staff

Frank Maloney, the UKIP candiate for London Mayor, has attacked the coverage of the elections and the way in which the established media focus only on the larger parties.

Maloney said "Some parts of the press, mainly the television stations and larger newspapers refuse to let the public know all the options available to them and only concentrate on the three main parties. The way myself and the other smaller parties like the Christian People’s Alliance have been treated is disgraceful being offered left over crumbs of coverage".

Commenting on the expected low turn out in next week’s elections Mr Maloney said "How the London is public supposed to see what options they have across the spectrum if all they see are the three main parties I don’t know. It is not surprising that turnout in elections is so low and the main political parties want to keep it that way which is why they try to bore us to death"
