Londoners celebrating St George’s Day have set a new coconut orchestra world record in Trafalgar Square today.
The event which was joined by 5,567 people formed part of the Mayor of London’s three day St George’s Day celebrations and was verified by the Guinness Book of World Records.
Monty Python stars Terry Jones and Terry Gilliam, plus members of the cast of West End hit Monty Python’s SPAMALOT, joined Ken Livingstone on stage before the world record attempt.
The day of comedy classic screenings culminated with a showing of Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Mayor Livingstone said the event “event not only broke a world record, it celebrated the unique English sense of humour, making it a great way to celebrate St George’s Day.”
