Londoners Approve Met Terror Response

October 9, 2005 - Staff

According to an opinion poll conducted by MORI on behalf of the Greater London Authority over three quarters of Londoners approve of the way the Met handled the July bombings.

77% of those asked were “satisfied” whilst “65 per cent of Londoners said that they have seen more police patrols across London since the attacks.”

Commenting on the poll Ken Livingstone, Mayor of London, said: “This survey shows very clearly that the overwhelming majority of Londoners support the way that the police handled the terror attacks in our city on the 7th July. It also shows that the increased number of police on the streets and particularly since 7 July are contributing to making Londoners feel safer.

“It is very positive news that this poll demonstrates that the great majority of Londoners enjoy the diversity of this city and oppose discrimination on the basis of race or religion”.
