London Waterways Commission’s Joint Chairs Named

Ken Livingstone, has appointed London Assembly Members Jenny Jones and Murad Qureshi to jointly chair his new the London Waterways Commission.

Livingstone has set up the Commission to “advise him on the implementation of the waterways policies in the London Plan, and to provide advice on the full range of uses of London’s waterways including transport, industrial, wildlife, cultural, landscape, design, residential and leisure uses.”

Explaining his reasons for setting up the Commission Livingstone said:

“London was developed around the river Thames and our waterways and canals continue to have a huge positive impact on quality of life in the capital. I have set up the London Waterways Commission to advise me on how we can enhance the use of the London’s network of waterways and canals as well as protect what’s already there.”
