London NHS Beats Matrons Target

The NHS in London has beaten Government targets for the recruitment of ‘Modern Matrons’ by appointing 906 – over a hundred more than target of 798 set by Ministers.

According to the NHS the post is an important component in delivering a safe, clean environment for patient care by ensuring hygiene and cleanliness are kept to the highest standards.

NHS London’s Chief Nurse, Trish Morris-Thompson said, “The public and patients identify with matrons, they know what their role is. These 900 matrons will help in the continuing fight against Healthcare Associated Infections, improve patient experience and support the excellent work being done by nurses across the
