London Govt Veteran Peggy Jay Dies

Today’s Independent carries an obituary for former London County Council and Greater London Council member Peggy Jay.

Mrs Jay represented  the LCC seat of Hackney between 1938-49 and the LCC/GLC seat of Battersea between  1952 and 1967, first being elected aged just 25.

She was married to former President of the  Board of Trade and Labour politician Douglas Jay.

Mrs Jay she died in London on 21 January 2008.
