London Government holds first carol service

The first Greater London Authority carol service is to be held tomorrow (Wednesday 10th December) at Southwark Cathedral, Mayor Boris Johnson and London Assembly Chair  Jennette Arnold will be joined by special guests including Lord Sebastian Coe and broadcaster John Pienaar.

The service will be attended by Greater London Authority staff and representatives from major faith groups as well as Youth Parliament representative Acie Marshall and Eileen McNally from the London Older People’s Strategies Group who will also give readings.

Limited seating for the public will also be available and those wishing to attend are advised to be at Southwark Cathedral by 6.50pm.

Mayor Johnson said: “There will be tough challenges ahead in 2009 but I’m optimistic that the resourcefulness and character of this city will see us all through. I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and I hope this carol service will be a wonderful occasion.”
