London Film Map Launched

December 15, 2006 by Staff

Film buffs in London and beyond can download a free London movie map, courtesy of Film London and Visit London.

The map shows locations used by over 50 London-shot films ranging from the 1940s to the present day and including hits as diverse as Brief Encounter to Batman Begins.

Film London’s Adrian Wootton said “the sheer range of London films demonstrates how cinema has become part of the fabric of the city with many places now instantly associated with moments from the silver screen. With the real interest now developing in ‘set-jetting’, I’m sure this movie map will offer a new perspective on the capital.”

James Bidwell, CEO of Visit London said the diversity of the capital made it “unsurprising that we are seeing more and more films – from The Constant Gardner to Woody Allen’s Match Point – being shot in the city” adding that the map would give film fans “the chance to explore parts of London that you might otherwise miss.”

The movie map is downloadable online from www.visitlondon.com and www.filmlondon.org.uk/moviemaps and free copies are also available at the Britain and London Visitor Centre, 1 Lower Regent Street, London, SW1Y 4XT.
