London charities benefit from Tube Lines giveaway

December 3, 2008 by Staff

Three thousand staff at underground maintenance contractors Tube Lines will each give a pound to one of three charities, with the company setting a minimum donation of £2,000 for each.

The PPP contractor has has chosen three worthy London-based charities to benefit from its first ever Christmas charity campaign. The charities which will benefit are Envision, the Evelina Children’s Hospital and the London Mobile Christmas Service.

Staff will be given a pound to donate to one of the charities and the total to be donated, including the minimum donation pledge, will be almost £10,000. The money has been sourced from recycling over 1,500 tonnes of newspaper waste left by passengers using the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines over the past year.

Louise Brooker-Carey, Director of Communications at Tube Lines, said the company was following the example of staff who have “done some phenomenal things to help raise funds for their local communities or charities that have special meaning for them.”

“Our Christmas charity campaign is an opportunity for Tube Lines to match the generosity of all its employees and hopefully make a difference to some people this Christmas.”
