Ken Livingstone today published a new report which outlines his case for increased investment in London ahead of a government’s review of public spending which will set its spending strategy for the next decade.
Entitled ‘Invest in London: Invest in Britain’ the report argues that investment in the capital is important for the rest of the UK.
Publishing the report the Mayor said central Government would “face difficult choices and will have to make some important decisions about how to allocate public spending over the coming decade.
These are decisions that will affect the quality of daily life for everyone in Britain as well as shape the future of our economy.”
Mr Livingstone warned that if Ministers get the decisions wrong “the strength of the UK’s economy will be severely undermined, damaging our productivity and employment resulting in vital inward investment being lost to other locations, not in the UK but overseas.”
