Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone has attacked the appointment of Brian Coleman as Chair of the London Assembly. Livingstone described himself as being “disappointed” with the choice and questions the decision of the LibDem assembly members to support the nomination.
Criticising the LibDem decision to support the Tories the Mayor says: “I don’t think people voted for the Liberal Democrats to see their Assembly Members put a Conservative into the Chair of the London Assembly.
If the Liberal Democrat Assembly members intended to form a coalition with the Tories they should have explained this to the voters during the election.”
Mr Livingstone claimed “most Londoners would prefer a working agreement with Labour, LibDems and the Greens.”
