The former Mayor’s petition also calls on “the Tory led Metropolitan Police Authority and the Tory Mayor Boris Johnson to…guarantee the future of London’s dedicated 630 safer neighbourhood police teams.”
Under MPA rules Livingstone, who is competing with former MP Oona King to become Labour’s 2012 Mayoral candidate, is entitled to speak for up five minutes to present his petition and to speak for a further three minutes after the Authority’s Chief Executive responds to the petition.
The petition is being presented at the regular monthly meeting of the full MPA which will be held at City Hall on Thursday, 22nd July from 10am.
MPA members will also hear a report from Met Commissioner Sir Paul Stephenson and receive a report on the MPA and Met’s community engagement strategy.
