Ken Delights The Media Again

March 28, 2006 by Staff

Today’s news bulletins and papers have once again devoted acres of coverage to the utterances of London Mayor Ken Livingstone.

This time the coverage surrounds the Mayor’s reported jibe that Robert Tuttle, the US ambassador to London was like a “chiselling little crook”.

The comments came as the Mayor was speaking about the refusal of US Embassy staff to pay the daily Congestion Charge. Staff are reported to have previously paid prior to Mr Tuttle taking up his post.

The embassy has stated that it considers the charge to be a tax which, under the Vienna Convention, does not apply to foreign diplomats.

Following the complaints the Mayor has been reported the Standards Board by the Civil liberties group Liberty and Law.
