Boris Johnson has been accused of favouring big business and banks “at the expense of normal Londoners”.
Jenny Jones, Green party candidate for Mayor, made the remarks while joining supporters handing out “Bank of Boris notes” at London’s Tube stations.
Ms Jones claims Johnson’s cycle sponsorship agreement with Barclays is “a perfect example of the misplaced emphasis of the Mayor’s relationship with the banking sector.”
If elected in May, Jones says City Hall would “only deal with banks that could demonstrate they were lending to London’s small businesses.”
The other declared candidates for May’s Mayoral elections are: Ken Livingstone (Labour), Brian Paddick (Liberal Democract), and Lawrence Webb (UKIP).
