Johnson to be quizzed over fare increases

November 7, 2008 by Staff

Darren Johnson, Green Party Assembly Member, is to use next week’s Mayor’s Question Time will ask Boris Johnson to defend his policy of above inflation fare increases in the wake of yesterday’s announcement that he is to scrap planning work on a number of transport projects.

Mr Johnson says “Londoners are set to pay more and get less under the Mayor’s new public transport proposals”, adding: “Fare rises are never great, but if you can see real investments being made they are at least easier to take.  This Mayor appears to think that it is acceptable to cut investment but still plan fare hikes.”

Mayor’s Question Time will be held Wednesday, 12 November 2008 at City Hall and is open to the public.
