Scotland Yard says it’s now fully compliant with new Home Office rules on the use of Stop & Search powers by police officers in England and Wales.
The Home Office has published new new guidance on the use of stop powers which all forces in England and Wales, including the Met, have agreed to implement.
Home Secretary Theresa May has announced wide-ranging reforms to the police’s use of stop and search powers.
Unsurprisingly the latest set of revelations about the Met’s conduct and failures during its investigation of Stephen Lawrence’s murder have further damaged the force’s standing and reputation and, inevitably, the public’s trust in the force.
The London Assembly has called for young Londoners to be involved in stop and search training in order to help build bridges between the public and Met Police.
