Illustrations of London go on display at Transport Museum

February 12, 2014 - Martin Hoscik@MayorWatch

transport_museum_sign_2A new exhibition featuring the best of the entries for The Serco Prize for Illustration 2014 opens this week at the London Transport Museum.

Entrants were asked to create an illustration which captures a London narrative.

Shortlisted illustrations include ghost buses, Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show of 1887, Lenin’s ‘love letter to London’ and an escaped Monkey jazz band.

Other entries depict the ravens and the white bear of the Tower of London, Tin Pan Alley as well as literary and musical references such as The Picture of Dorian Gray, The Girl from Petrovka, Mary Poppins, Sweeney Todd and Oranges and Lemons.

The exhibition opens this Friday, 14th February, and to celebrate the museum is running a 2-for-1 cocktail offer on its new exclusive limited edition cocktail – The Night Bus.

Searcys, the onsite caterer at London Transport Museum for eight years, has worked alongside the Museum to create this decadent chocolate delight which mixes Vodka and Cointreau blended with velvety chocolate syrup, dusted with dark cocoa powder and “finished with a decadent chocolate straw”.

Following the launch The Night Bus will be sold at the Museum’s Upper Deck café throughout 2014 for £8.00 as part of the celebrations for The Year of the Bus 2014.
