The High Court has quashed Ken Livingstone’s four week suspension from office.
The suspension was ordered in February following a row between the Mayor and Evening Standard reporter Oliver Finegold in which the Livingstone was accused of likening Finegold to a concentration camp guard.
The Adjudication Panel for England found these comments were “unnecessarily insensitive and offensive” and ordered the Mayor to step down for a month.
Mr Justice Collins has reserved his final judgement to a later date saying the matter was “not an easy case. There are certain ramifications, whatever I decide, which will affect other matters.”
However the Judge said he had “made it clear the suspension will be quashed whatever I decide on whether the Panel’s finding was correct.”
