April 10, 2008 by Staff

The Greens will announce their manifesto for next month’s GLA elections later today.

Mayoral candidate Siân Berry is expected to be joined by sitting Assembly Members Jenny Jones and Darren Johnson to announce plans which include a 20p reduction all bus and off-peak tube fares and free insulation for all London homes.

Ms Berry, who is also standing for the London Assembly, will is expected to laud the role existing Green AMs have played in trading support their support for the Mayor’s budget in return for investment in green projects.

Ahead of this morning’s event Ms Berry said “Greens on the London Assembly have shown that our ideas are practical and effective. Now we want to transform London into a city which is both greener and more affordable and a happier place to be.”

“We have ensured that less well off Londoners have benefited from cheap insulation, now we want all Londoners to be able to insulate their homes for free. Many households have used the green homes service we initiated, now we want to end fuel poverty in London for good by making sure no-one is left out.”
