Freight companies get new 2012 data tool

September 12, 2011 by Staff

Transport for London has released new data to help freight companies plan deliveries during the 2012 Olympic Games.

Postcode data provided in conjunction Royal Mail will allow companies to check whether clients and locations in the Capital will be affected by the Olympic Route Network (ORN), Central London Zone (CLZ) or road events.

The data is part of an ongoing public information campaign being overseen by TfL which is designed to reduce disruption to London’s businesses during the Games.

Leon Daniels, Managing Director of Surface Transport at TfL, said: “The new postcode data we have released is an important part of the information we will be providing to London’s business community.”

The information is available online at www.tfl.gov.uk/developers.

Nick Lester, Corporate Director of Services at London Councils, said:  “London’s businesses need to be able to continue to operate during the Olympics and Paralympics, whether they are directly involved with the Games or not.

“Making sure freight can move around is key to getting this balance right – which will not be an easy task. London’s boroughs will play their part in planning for Games-time by working closely with the companies in their areas.”
