The London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority (LFEPA) is consulting on a new draft fire and safety plan which includes proposals to axe 12 fire stations and 18 engines.
Fire Commissioner Ron Dobson says the plan will not endanger Londoners and has promised response targets will be maintained.
As well as an online consultation process, LFEPA members have ordered Fire brigade bosses to hold the meetings to allow members of the public to question the Commissioner and his team about the plans.
Just four members of the public attended the first meeting which was held in Barking and Dagenham last week and cost £1,215 to arrange and advertise.

Encouraging Londoners to get involved and have their say, Commissioner Dobson said: “This a unique chance to hear about my proposals for the future of the London Fire Brigade and how the changes I’m proposing may affect the fire service in each borough of London.
“People will also have the opportunity to ask us questions and I’d urge everyone to come along and have their say.”
