A third of Met cops to carry Tasers as Commissioner vows to protect Londoners from “violent incidents”

An additional 1,800 Metropolitan Police officers are to be issued with Tasers, taking the total number of officers carrying the weapon to 6,400.

Greg Hands named as Theresa May’s new minister for London

The minister for London role had been dormant in recent years but was revived by Theresa May when she became Prime Minister last summer in a decision which was privately opposed by some Conservatives on the London Assembly who felt it undermined their position as scrutineers of Mayor Sadiq Khan.
