London political watchers can look forward to two new books chronicling the capital’s first two Mayors which are both set for publication this Autumn.

Ken Livingstone’s memoirs will be published this November by Faber and Faber after the publisher acquired worldwide rights to the book.

Faber Editorial Director Neil Belton promised Livingstone’s trademark “salty wit, passionate advocacy, undiplomatic judgements of time-servers” would all be present in the book which covers his 40 years of political activity.

Also set to hit bookstores later this year is a biography of Livingstone’s successor Boris Johnson written by journalist Sonia Purnell.

Published by Aurum Press Ltd, Just Boris: The Irresistible Rise of a Political Celebrity is currently slated for publication on October 1st and is billed as “the first forensic account” of Johnson’s “remarkable rise to fame and power”.

The cover for Purnell’s book was recently exhibited at the London Book Fair and is currently available for pre-order from Amazon.co.uk
