Coleman Elected Assembly Chairman

May 10, 2006 by Staff

Brian Coleman

The Conservative Assembly Member Brian Coleman has today been elected Chairman of the London Assembly at the Assembly’s Annual Meeting.

Mr Coleman, who previously served as Chairman in 2004/05, was elected to the Assembly in the first GLA elections held in May 2000 and was re-elected in 2004.

Describing his election as a “privilege” Coleman said the “Assembly has a busy year ahead.”

“I do look forward to reminding Londoners constantly that there are 25 politicians, other than the Mayor in this building, all doing a valuable job on behalf of the capital.”

The Liberal Democrat Peer Baroness Sally Hamwee was appointed as the Assembly’s Deputy Chair.
