London Underground has been criticised for freezing car parking fees when fares are increasing.

Earlier this week LU announced that drivers who pay via cashless options will see fees frozen for a second year.

Only those car users paying in cash facing the same 2.5% inflationary increase which is set to push up fares for all public transport users from next month.

Green party London Assembly member Darren Johnson says the decision “sends the wrong message about what form of travel has priority.”

He added: “My preference would be to freeze fares whilst putting up parking charges and using the extra money raised to build first rate cycling facilities that made it easy for people to get to the stations.”
