Chingford Residents Invited to Fire Station Open Day

Members of the London Fire Brigade’s parachute team will be dropping in from the skies above as part of Chingford Fire Station Open Day today – Saturday, 4 August.

The brigade are inviting all Chingford and Waltham Forest residents to go along and learn more about the Brigade’s work.

Organisers have promised a fun packed event including the chance to be shown round the fire engines by firefighters and a penalty shoot out prize competition, more seriously there will also be a chip pan fire demonstration.

Local residents will also have the opportunity to sign up to one of the free home fire safety visits offered by the Brigade which will firefighters will visit your home, offer advice on how to avoid fires in the home and fit a smoke alarm for free if necessary.

Waltham Forest Borough Commander Darren Dovey, said the event would be “a great opportunity for us to meet local people and show them how a fire station works. Our demonstrations and information will also help people to protect their homes from fire. Everyone is welcome so come along and meet your local firefighters.”

Other agencies with stalls on the day will include the Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service. Food and refreshments will be available.
