Charity swim for Lord Mayor’s Appeal

February 26, 2009 - Martin Hoscik

The City of London’s annual City Dip fundraiser takes place on Friday and Saturday (27th & 28th February) to raise money for the Lord Mayor’s Appeal.

The two days will see Londoners from across the capital gather at the Golden Lane Leisure Centre to take part in a 5,000 metre swim which can be completed either by an individual or by a team of up to 6 people.

Last year’s event raised in excess of £21,000 for the Lord Mayor’s Appeal. This year’s Appeal will benefit the St John Ambulance and the Lord’s Taverners.

The Lord Mayor, Ian Luder, said: “The City Dip is always a fantastic event that brings together residents, workers, schools and livery companies from across the Capital for two wonderful charities.  The Lord’s Taverners and St John Ambulance do incredibly worthy work for the City of London and I very much thank all the City Dip participants for diving in for this year’s Lord Mayor’s Appeal”.
