It has been announced that the Conservative MP Eric Forth has died. A Minister in the Major Government Mr Forth served as Member of Parliament for Bromley and Chislehurst since May 1997.
He had previously represented the seat of Mid Worcestershire and was elected Member of the European Parliament for Birmingham North from 1979 until 1984.
Bob Neill, London Assembly Member for Bexley and Bromley described Mr Forth’s passing as “an absolute tragedy” and described him as “a magnificent parliamentarian.”
“I greatly appreciated working with him over the years and know at first hand the effort he put into representing his constituents and maintaining the strength of the House of Commons as an institution. Of course my immediate thoughts are with Carol and the family.”
