Bromley crack down on uninsured drivers

April 24, 2009 by Staff

A crushed car was on display at Bromley South yesterday as part of a major crack down by council officials and Police in Bromley on uninsured drivers in the borough.

“We want to make sure that the message gets across loud and clear,” said Cllr Colin Bloom, Chairman of the Safer Bromley Partnership. “We simply won’t tolerate uninsured drivers in the borough. Not only is it illegal but it’s dangerous and antisocial too. We’re catching and cracking down on drivers if they don’t have insurance, so be warned! The one simple way to avoid losing your car is to make sure you always have proper insurance.”

Anyone caught without insurance will have their vehicle confiscated, then face a hefty fine and a deadline of seven or fourteen days to get insured before they can claim it back, failure will result in the vehicle being sold or destroyed.
