Tory Mayoral candidate Boris Johnson faces Labour claims of failing to take his candidacy seriously after telling his local paper that he was prepared to fight the Mayoral election and defend his Parliamentary seat at the next General Election.
The Oxford Mail reports that Mr Johnson “would seek a further term as Henley MP, even if the next General Election fell on the same date as May’s London election.”
A Labour Party Spokesperson said: the comments show “Boris Johnson’s complete lack of understanding of what the job entails and his lack of seriousness in wanting to be Mayor of London, which is entirely in line with his campaign so far.”
However asked if he would continue as an MP if elected Mayor Mr Johnson said it was “unlikely”.
