Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales will join academics and business leaders for a series of debates being hosted at City Hall this summer.

The debates are part of Mayor Boris Johnson’s London House initiative which is designed to woo international businesses and investment to the capital.

Other speakers include Goldman Sachs Asset Management Chairman Jim O’Neill and Professor Saskia Sassen of Columbia University.

In addition to the debates there will be a number of business seminars and an exhibition to highlight land development opportunities.

City Hall says the programme is part of the Mayor’s commitment to secure new jobs and economic growth and that Johnson has invited “hundreds of international business leaders” to take part.

Unveiling his list of speakers Mayor Johnson said: ‘During Games-time, London will be jam packed not only with top athletes but men and women who take the crucial decisions about where their businesses should invest and grow.

‘I want this influential audience to be stimulated by a feast of all that’s best about the capital, so when it comes to deciding their new HQ or expansion, it is London they opt for. This charm offensive will benefit Londoners for decades to come in the form of jobs and economic growth.’

To accommodate the initiative City Hall will be closed between the following dates:

Monday 23rd July to Sunday 12 August inclusive

Tuesday 28th August to Sunday 9th September inclusive
