Berry To Announce Transport Policies

February 14, 2008 by Staff

Siân Berry, Green Party candidate for Mayor, will announce her plans for the future of London’s transport services later today.

Ms Berry is expected to announce a 20p cut in fares and a 20mph default speed limit. She will also pledge to introduce the provision of free bikes across the capital and new rail and tram routes.

Ms Berry is expected to call on Londoners to break out of “the transport tribe mentality” and stop “thinking of ourselves as ‘a motorist’, ‘a cyclist’, or ‘a bus user’ – we’re all just people trying to get around. I’ll give Londoners a real choice of cheaper, more efficient transport options for every journey they make.”

Other pledges are expected to include permanent car-free Sundays in the West End and an all-night Tube service at weekends.
